Like I said, "to each, his own" as it is your nickel so to speak, but 
you do understand that torque specs are set to provide the optimum 
degree of fastener stretch (yes, literally) that prevents loosening, 
right? If you are having issues with threads stripping, I would suggest 
that other factors (bad torque wrench? corroded, damaged, or dirty 
fastener?) may be the problem, rather than the correct torque spec.
