clutch housing and pressure plate



I took my R1100 in to get the friction plate replaced since it had ~41k 
mi on it and was slipping quite easily.

They called today and said that the housing and pressure plate had 'hot 
spots' which indicated they were possibly warped and needed to be 
replaced as well.

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. Did I 
cause this by waiting too long to replace the friction plate? I asked 
them to hang on to those parts. What should I expect to see?
