Re: Baglux cover on R1100RS

Hi Ian,

Ooops. It's been some time since I've seen the long fairing'ed version. They are quite a bit different.

If a longer strap would work, the lower part with the hook is on a separate piece of webbing. It shouldn't be too hard to find a similar strap and rig up a new, longer one.

The Bagster is about as old as the bike, so I'm sure there have a
been some changes made over the years. However, mine fits quite well
and I wouldn't believe they changed the design so the cover fits
worse. I wonder if it's really the right one for an R1100RS. I guess
if it's close, it must be the right one.

Thanks Karl. It has a label saying "'96 R1100RS". Mine's a '95 but near
enough.

Where the side straps are, I believe both the long and short-skirted
R1100RS' are the same. On my bike the side clips also attach just
above the throttle bodies too. Try pushing the clip further under so
it's on the fairing bottom edge, parallel to the road and see if it
can hook onto the small lip on the backside of the fairing.

That's what I did, but the extra inch or two below where your bottom edge is
means it's a marginal fit.

If you look at

http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/photos/photophotos/R1100%20Cobalt%20Blue% 20699%20(1
).jpg

which is basically the same as mine you'll see what I mean. It's a lot
further down.

Weird color, but congrats on the new Baglux. It's been a great system
for me and has held up well for 65K+ miles.

See http://i24.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/a6/ce/4cc5_1.JPG for the colour. I
thought they just had bad white balance on the photo. Hell, it's close
enough. :-)

I've used the system for years on various bikes and have 3 bags, all Alphas,
but red, black, and blue. They just seem to accumulate. :-)

Cheers

Ian
