The mid-week riders rode to Livermore for breakfast and then meandered toward I580/I5 south to Patterson. At Patterson we went west on Del Puerto Canyon road to the junction at Mines Rd. See map at the bottom of the page. The captain should take an extra close look at the map to see that Livermore is much more north than west of the junction.
Our next stop was at the Lake del Valle State Recreation area.
Most of us had never been inside. We paid the $6/vehicle to take a
look. It was at this stop that the Major proved he is cow blind.
He’d earlier not seen the cow standing in the opposite lane in a section
of Del Puerto Canyon Road. This time he stopped at the end of the public
road. I pulled along side and asked him to look over his left shoulder.
There, standing under the tree were were circling, was another cow.
He wondered from where the cow came. True, when WWWobble passed that
spot the cow was laying down in the shade.
Pictures are more-or-less in time sequence from Bob, Chris, Dick, and Marc. Oh, and for those who have to put up with snow in December. The temperature got as low as 39 according the the thermometers on the Hondas. I had to crank the heat controller for my liner to nearly 30% of full power!
