Seven appeared at Skylonda Corners (Alice’s) for a Bob Burns called ride. Bob is AKA wobble. aka Blinkless. He led us over hill’n dale using Hwy#35, Black Road down and then Bear Creek up’n over for Boulder Creek, Jamison and Empire Grade for Bonny Doon Rd. We agreed we wanted Smith Grade. Through all this I managed to get in some dirt riding, and while not planned, it was intentional.
wobble couldn’t find the west-end of Smith Grade, but he passed the east end while on Empire. I rode it coming home all by myself. wobble turned off of Bonny Doon Rd. too soon, another quarter mile past Ice Cream Grade is Smith Grade.
We ate at Gilda’s out on the Santa Cruz Pier. The guys generally gave the place rave reviews. The Prime Rib is the Wednesday special, big slab, baked potato, cup’o soup (choices here), mixed seasonal steamed veggies and bread’n butter, $9.95 GREAT! Parking was $1/hour out on the pier.
No police contacts, no court greetings…good run!

Now this report isn’t completely accurate. First of all — it’s
WWWobble. Note the spelling. Secondly, there is no Blinklesss.
WWWobble blinked several times. He deserves praise for improvement.
Sorry about Smith Grade. It just didn’t come soon enough. Besides,
the road we took, ( I think it was Martin Rd and then right turn on Ice
Cream Grade), was pretty interesting on its own. You did notice the
home perched atop the cliff, or mound, or whatever that was on Martin.
?? I thought that was pretty cool.
Gilda’s was good. Maybe even an improvement on Phils, and certainly 30 miles closer. However, I got charged $2 to leave the pier. Guess that’s the penalty for being slow to don helmet gloves and all that. Note to self, do Gilda’s on Tuesday.
Good ride guys, thanks for participating.
