To my mind, the boxer is a very charming long distance motor.
Every time I got off test riding a GS (which I had the pleasure
of doing several times on 1100 and 1150), I was left grinning. I
suspect that the boxer was responsible for part of that grin.

As to underpowered, I don't know. It puts out decent real world
power.

Not being watercooled is probably an Achilles heel.
