just a thought.  i remember having a small piece, really small, of road
debris get lodged in the right side pulley mechanism around which the cable
wound and unwound.  at idle and up to about 2k, the bike ran very rough,
above that it worked fine.  as the cable unwound and went back into the
grove, it was once again 'synched.'  the symptom was rough idling only at
specific rpm.
