Valve Adjustments

I live about two hours from the nearest dealer, and when it's time for
service I have to drop it off the day before so that the engine will
be stone cold the next day for valve adjustment. Without a loaner,
that means I need a ride home and then a ride back the next day
to pick up the bike. If I could do my own valve adjustments, then
maybe the bike could be serviced the same day I bring it in (saving
twice as many trips to the dealer).

I've got both the Clymer manual and Carl Kulow's Maintenance Manual.
I've also got a '72 /5 that I've adjusted the valves on many times.

My question to the group is How much more difficult are the valves on
the oilhead to adjust than the valves on the airhead?
