I've been on that kind of road on the R1150RT.   No problems as long as
you use steady, controlled pressure.   Don't get hung up on front vs
rear.  Use whichever lever (hand or foot or both) is more comfortable
for you and just take it easy.   Treat the road like ice or snow and
don't do anything quickly!
