A scott oiler will take care of this task for you.

A chain is cheaper than a spline lube. The replacement can be is less 
labor intensive than a spline lube. You can eyeball the chain and 
sprocket to determine if it needs to be replaced. You can of course 
eyeball the clutch splines, after you remove the transmission...


Oh and a worn chain with a little "slop" in it will not leave you 
stranded as worn splines can. Gee, a chain sounds more reliable than 
the uber shaft drive...
