Martin,
Hope your new saddle solves your problem. I'd suggest that you ask them
to construct it to accommodate a back rest should you later decide to go
that route. That's the only thing that solved my back pain.

I want to thank everyone who offered a suggestion for easing my back
problems. There were some suggestions there that I am so truly convinced
are sound that I'd implemented them long before going to the net, like
chiropractic care, physical conditioning and weight loss. There were other
suggestions that had never occurred to me, like a back brace. Two riders
even suggested the same brand. As it happens, my weak spot isn't in the
lumbar region, but just above the diaphragm, and I think that a brace up
there would probably interfere with breathing. Tom Brown's suggestions on
suspension tuning will give me weeks of useful occupation, and I suspect
they'll help. I ordered a saddle from Rick Meyer this morning as the first
step in tuning the ergonomics, which may be (like the exercise and weight
loss) an ongoing process. Thanks again, all, for pointing me down a
productive path.
