Head shakes can be caused by many things besides a bad shock absorber.
Many years ago I was coming around a clover leaf turn on an express way
when my rear wheel broke loose after going over a small patch of oil. I
hit the rear break to scrub off some speed and immediately went into
head shake tank slapper when the tire gained traction again. I did a
high side and flew over the bars. Thank God I was wearing a helmet. I
still remember hitting my head and right shoulder on the the pavement.
Fortunately I only broke my shoulder blade. It was one of my more
memorable rides.
Point I'm trying to make is head shakes come in many varieties. Don't
know if my experience has any relationship to the head shake we've been
discussing.
