Marc,
You live in an area which is a biker's dream.
Late last May and early June, with a friend of mine, I was riding HWY #1 from Los Angeles right up to Canada. Great road, I'll be doing it again. You probably know this, just the same I'd mention it, at Eugene where the #1 ends in the #101, starting a short but most beautiful road the #101A, the Avenue of the Giants. The trees were so high and closed in that my GPS lost satellite contact.
Our 10,000 mile trip took 19 days of riding and we rode great roads including Flagstaff, Sedona, New Mexico, both rims of the Grand Canyon, the Canadian Rockies, etc. 2,500 miles more were scheduled but I wanted to get home because I was running out of front tier a BT-010. I should have used the BT-020 in the front too.
Regards
Bob Silas

About 30-100 miles north of San Francisco, between the coast and highway
101. The terrain looks like

(that link should all be on one line) as seen from a sattelite.
Great motorcycle roads.
