For R1100S please.
I'm ready to do some experimenting with Uni oiled foam air filter medium.
But I need a few old paper filters for testing and mock-ups and good advice
too.
1. If anybody has experience and/or theory about the results of changing air
filters (to K&N, for example) apropos the ECU or otherwise, please share it
with me/us.
I think oiled foam is surely the way to go for home-maintenance riders
(except maybe when you have to take the tank off to deal with the filter,
eh) AND providing you can compensate in fuel metering. In as much as the
Oilheads tend to be lean and the O2 feedback comes into operation only for
special conditions, I wonder if the ECU compensates for freer flowing air?
2. I need a few used R1100S air filters for R&D. While the R1100S is fairly
unpromising given the miniscule airfilter space and the unclever way BMW
concealed it under the tank, I'm still hoping R&D will lead to a good
filter. If anybody has a stock airfilter which they think is still
reasonably free-flowing and thus could provide a benchmark flowrate for me,
that would be especially welcome.
Please ping me off-List if you can spare some oldies. Thanks.
Cheers.
Ben
