Controversial for sure.
But that's exactly the approach I used to break in the 929.
Presently 50k miles, runs like new and doesn't use a drop of oil.
If I remember correctly, I don't think it ever has ie even when new.
Besides being a superlatively reliable sport touring mount, this bike has
done a bunch of track days.

I know it's far from being conclusive, but my experience has been good.
