clarification on catcode wiring

I want to be able to jumper my empty socket as if it
had a proper R1100 RT catcode plugged in, run a few
tanks through the bike to see how much worse it surges
and check mileage, then pull the wires and see if it
rides so much better that I'm willing to put up with
the reduced mileage (however much that may be). 
Pretty simple stuff.
