95 R1100 R not starting

Hi,

I have a '95 BMW R1100 R....it wont start up for me. When I go to start it
the engine tries to tick over and then there is a repetive (sort of
electronic) click from the left hand side of the bike near the cylinder
head. Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be?
