October 8/9 (Sat/Sun) 2011)

Thursday night Darryl and I made impromptu plans to meet and ride to Lake San Antonio for the 22nd Cal Coast Campout & BBQ. Both of us were going to ride down a day early. I wanted to try out a restaurant I’d been told of in Tres Pinos named Flapjacks. That influenced our route. We met at the 129/101 junction and meandered our way to Tres Pino over Cienega Rd.
Flapjacks was a good choice. I had a great breakfast and Darryl enjoyed a nice lunch. While eating Lars rode by and noticed our bikes. It took him a bit of effort to find us as we parked a few buildings down from the restaurant. He ordered the same (large) sandwich as Darryl. None of us left hungry.
Darryl and I got some gas and then the three of us rode down 25 to Peachtree where we stopped for a short break. Peachtree turns into Indian Valley which brought us into San Miguel for another gas stop. It’s about 25-30 miles from San Miguel to the campground. I’d include a track log but had some GPS issues. Maybe next time.
More and more folks are getting to this event a day early. We were not the first folks there and by the end of the evening about 20 campers had set up camp. My evening was pleasant if short. I was in my tent, asleep, shortly after 10 PM.
