The only thing I can remark about is my experience with my RT. It is
a 99 and has been in the shop ZERO times for ZERO failures in the 36,000
miles that is showing on the odometer...excluding normal manufacturers
recommended servicing (of which, I have done most of it myself anyway). I
wonder if the DUC owners have had similar success. Can DUC owners do the
DESMO valve adjustment themselves? Does it void the warranty if they do? I
HAVE HEARD that it is very expensive.

there has been a parts 'problem'. this past fall ducati set up a zillion
dollar parts warehouse in CA to help with the speed of distribution. if i
find myself in need of parts, i will report how long it takes. the st4s is
no more or less reliable than my r1100rt or the r1100rs was. guys who don't
own them just are flapping their gums rationalizing their own purchases. as
usual, YMMV.
