I would lay odds the noise is coming from the throw out bearing about ready to go. With some pressure on it the bearing stops turning and the noise goes away. With little or no pressure the bearing is free to spin and squeal. The bearing is a sealed bearing , meaning they can be dry with no grease. Next to muffler bearings they probably have one of the highest failure rates since they have to operate in the dusty enviroment of the clutch housings.
