That is counter intuitive. I'd think that if the yokes are shown as
the second diagram at http://www.4xshaft.com/driveline101.html they'd be
in phase, no? This is implied by
http://www.borgeson.com/U-JointOrientation.htm
which says:
When two joints are used on a shaft, the forks of the yokes closest to
each other should be in line, or "in phase".
