>Clumsy title but I recall there was some discussion of products that
could renew faded black plastic bits. Anyone have any suggestions?
First rule: Stay away from Armor All and other cheap products containing
lots of silicone. When you use these and then let the black stuff get out
in the sun, it turns brown...you've probably seen this on tire sidewalls
when they're Armoralled by the car wash.
There's a product at auto parts stores, also discount stores like WalMart in
the auto parts sections. It's called, believe it or not, "Black Again".
It works pretty well. McGuire's products are good too. They have a
product for this and I'd trust it. Can't think of the name of it just now.
By the way, McGuire's Quick Detailer comes in a spray bottle and is great
for quickly cleaning up your bike...like when you hit a puddle or something
and have just a little junk you want to get off and don't want to wash your
whole bike. Great as a quick wheel cleaner too. Won't hurt the rims, the
plastic or anything else that I've used it on. I use it to clean my helmet
visors too.
