Robert,
You answered one very important question about the interchangability of the sub-frame (back-frame or whatever the correct terminology is) for the RT vs the RS...they aren't the same. That will save me from spending money on the RT sub-frame on ebay. It's probably a bargain at <$100, but it's no bargain if I can't use it. 
 
The bike is at the shop right now...if I can get out there with my dig. camera, I'll send you some pics. Thanks for the offer of help.

If you are talking about the Back-frame, the one which has to be flipped-up to 
remove the transmission ................ that frame is not interchangeable 
between RS and RT.
I have a '94 R1100RS and if you send me digital photos I can tell you more.  I 
welded and also replaced foot-peg level supports for regular saddle bags.
I am not familiar with supports for the aluminum cases.

  I'm figuring that a welding job is in order, but there is a subframe for an 
  R11RT on ebay right now. Anyone know if this RT subframe would happen to be a 
  swap for an RS subframe?
