Re: Gearbox noise

In my admittedly limited experience with later R11's (97-2001) I have found
the gearbox to be noisier and more notchy (poor shifting) than either my
1976 R90s or a K100RS I owned. The Getrag design seems to leave much to be
desired. I found that using a thicker (85/140) synthetic or semi-synthetic
helps both the noise and the shifting. I also change the oil once a year.
