On the '94 RS I installed 3-sets of bar-backs on top of each other. The '94 RT cables work well, some re-routing needed.

Do you have bar backs or risers? If so take the old line to local shop and
have them add 11/2"- 2" with a new stainless steel braided line. I did and
the cost was less than $20. Fixie problem long time! If you have stock setup
look at another RS for position and routing, you're doing something odd.

How old was that brake line? If I recall the manual correctly (and I
may not) the brake lines are supposed to be replaced at regular
intervals.
