It appears there were 56 entrants in the '07 Le Mans motorcycle
endurance race, of which 34 finished. The bike appears to have a hexhead
engine. I think that makes it the R1200S, not the R1100S.

Hello all,
After a lengthy absence from multi-brand racing, BMW place 16th over all
at
Le Mans. They did it in an R1100S. The 776 lap, 2011 mile, 24 hour
endurance
race is famous for shaking "lesser" riders and machines with mechanical
failures and "Did Not Finish"es (DNF).

I did no research to determine how many entrants there were in the race.
For
example, if BMW placed 16th in a field of 50, that's impressive for
their
first entry. If they placed 16th out of 18... not so impressive.
