Do these ever break with the stock windshield?

Ken:

No, the '05 has aluminum arms too. They would break where the arm meets
the
top barrel mount. They may have beefed them up. It took about 6 months
of
riding season for my first one to break on a trip back from Vermont.
The
second one on the other side broke in the same place about 2 months
later.

I really hope they fixed this. The aftermarket ones have been holding
all
this year. I'd wait until one breaks before buying these. Change to
stock
shield if you want one replaced. Some dealers won't do it if you have
an
aftermarket windscreen on the bike.

They have, my '07 has aluminum arms where the older version I believe
are
plastic?

Swapped the stock screen for a Ztechnik Vstream within a week of buying
the
bike and I've had no problem with the brackets or any other part of the
mechanism. That includes regularly riding well over posted highway speed
limits with the screen raised...
