Coffee and pipe
Steve, Neil, and Markus
Plenty of bikes and riders for breakfast in Fremont on Super Bowl Sunday. I didn’t notice until editing the picture that Chris took a cup of coffee with him to the parking lot for the after breakfast gab fest.

Well, yes! It was Super Bowl Sunday and yes, parties and family commitments took their toll of riders. Thirteen made it to breakfast bur real riders? Only six answered the day’s call. Russ Danileson was off to Watsonville, WWWobble was destined for home and a cage trip to Brentwood with family, Marco Hyman home to admire a new fence (not really - but I don’t recall the specific). Anyway, Harry Bahlman, Alberto Sevillia, Neil Harvey, Chris Weld, Chris Rand and Marcus Baur were ‘game’ to ride. After much discussion it was agreed to ride around the Calaveras Reservoir. However, the CHP, supported by a major landslide, said ‘no-no’ after a six’er so mile cruise up the road. Nice Officer, he offered his personal porta-potty for our use, a stretch (read ‘smoke’) and a chance to discuss a re-route. Livermore and Mines Road for the Junction House and Mt. Hamilton (Lick Observatory) were agreed upon. New leadership was called for and Marcus and Alberto teamed-up to provide. Breakfast coffee was off-loaded at a wide spot (with waterfall) while in route. The Junction House was doing a land-office business in spite of the overcast and weather report that promised later afternoon rain. Riding temperatures stayed in the 51-53º range, at least until the Lick Ovservoatory where the temps dipped to a cool 41º amid dense fog. Back at the Junction House Neil, the smart guy, decided to opt-out for Patterson and Hwy #33. Chris Weld, Harry Bahlman and Alberto took Quimby Road into San Jose and points home.
Great SMBC afternoon. It’s believed all made their respective abodes before the deluge, suffering only minor ‘spit’ before home.
