Report of our first visit to Brian’s in Los Altos…
Somebody had to stay behind to give this place a try, a new to SMBC breakfast spot recommended by Harry. Harry, it turns out, wouldn’t be there. He was busy rooting for his favorite rider at the Sacramento Mile, one Shayna Texter in AFT Singles class (YES, she won, and is now leading the class in points. Alberto went along to keep Harry company, to learn about Flat Track by shaking Kenny Robert’s hand, and to watch the Indian Wrecking Crew reek havoc on both Harley and Kawasaki in AFT Twins class.
Rob departed for an Indian gathering of a different sort somewhere in the mountains, like maybe Graeagle. His Indian is a larger Indian than the ones Harry and Alberto were watching. A different tribe perhaps.
Other SMBCers went north, to the Patrick’s point campout. Marco, Tom, Carl, maybe others. I don’t think it rained and Marco sent a picture via text msg – some sort of cooking apparatus set up on a table, so they must have eaten, or had coffee or something. Best you read all about their non Starbuckian adventures direct from them.
Meanwhile, Markus, Jerry G, Russ, Steve, Neil, and I welcomed Leroy to the table, now a table of seven. Nice environment, good food, great service. No boot for Harry on this one.
After breakfast Markus, Russ, Steve and I took a ride around Lexington Reservoir, up Old Santa Cruz to Summit, south on Summit to Highland [bump, bump, thud, BUMP] Way, which turns into Eureka [bump, slip, thud] Canyon, and into Corralitos.
We took this route because Neil was interested in the roads in the area and had mentioned it at breakfast. But Neil didn’t ride with us because he didn’t have the time, so we took the ride for him. It’s the SMBC way. We even took a few [very few] pix just because.
