A Short Ride Home
For no apparent reason I awoke at 6 AM. Dressed, packed, coffee, checked email. It’s now only a little after 7 AM. May as well load up the bike and take off. Carl said they were going to go up 101. I was still leaning toward the coast. But the weather report called for fog. Decisions.
Around 7:30 I left the motel to get some gas. I headed out taking the roads I usually take to the coast, but missed the turn to Adelaide. OK. Interlake and Jolon road into King City sounds good. Not much fog.
I stopped in King City for what turned out to be a very large breakfast. Like a fool I ate it all. That was a stupid thing to do. Back on the bike I rode the foothills on the east side of 101 to Soledad, then jumped on 101 heading north.
The miles kept ticking off as I thought about the best back road to take. That thought was mixed with “why did I eat so much”. The result was I stayed on 101 all the way to 92 in San Mateo. The only stop was at my eye doctor in San Mateo. I’d picked up a voice mail message yesterday saying my new glasses were ready.
I was home by 12:30. About 1100 miles over the 4 days, a bit less than usual. No rain. Very little wind. A good trip.
Perfect fit
