Friday
I left for Gardnerville a day early so I could spend a night camping at Wolf Creek Meadows off of highway 4. The road to the camground is about five miles. The first three are paved. The only campground amenities are a pair of vault toilets, one of which is marked as handicapped accessable. This trip I shared the campground with one other party. They were at least 300 yards from where I pitched my tent. And speaking of pitching tents… here is a time lapse of me setting up camp.

While I was being lazy in camp Saturday morning, fixing coffee and breakfast the main group of riders were meeting in Tracy for the ride to Gardnerville. Rob took these pictures along the way.

Since I had lots of time I rode into Carson City after breaking camp and then stopped at Genoa where I took these pictures.
After checking into my hotel and taking a needed shower I walked to the Village Motel for the traditional before dinner bench racing session. Dinner started at 5:30 at the Overland Hotel. Some door prizes were awarded then Tom Martin took the mic for the presentation of the boot. This year was another first for the boot: it was awarded to a new member who also happens to be a new rider. See this trip report to see why this honor was bestowed to a new member/rider. Pictures of the goings on follow.

About a dozen riders had breakfast at the Kirkwood Inn before heading home. I took 88 until Pioneer where I turned off onto Ca 26. Nicer road (lots of twisties) and zero traffic. I’d been stuck behind a line of cars going maybe 40 MPH the last few miles before turning off.
I was home before 2 PM. Good ride, partly because of the lack of heat. Temps were in the 70s most of the way. Much better than the upper 90s I saw Friday.
