Spring 2001
This is the first spring since the landscaping done last year, so each spring bloom is new and exciting. Pictures and comments follow.

plum tree blossoms
The plum trees along the driveway were the first to bloom. It seemed like no time before the blooms were gone and deep red leaves appeared, but Mitsuko says the blooms were there for at least a month.
red maple branches
Not really part of spring, but a chance to show off the red branches of one of the maple trees in the front yard. There is an up light at the base of the tree, illuminating the branches at night. I can see it from my “office” window. Beautiful.
Camillia bloom
Camillia
The camillias are just starting to open. There are many, many buds; we’re going to have lots of flowers in another few weeks.

Mt Fuji cherry
It’s now about 6 weeks later and in unseasonally warm weather you can practically watch the cherry blossoms open.
Flowering pear trees
Our pear (non fruit bearing) trees still have their flowers. The earliest pear started to bloom 6 weeks ago or so.
Camilla
Butterfly maple
Azalea
The camillias and azaleas are still in bloom. The butterfly maple has most of its leaves.
