Store the shocks in the position that they are normally mounted on the bike,
not laying down. Put tape on the boxes to mark the top and make it clear to
keep them stored thsi way. If you lay stock BMW shocks on their side for a
year or two, they will not work anymore when you reinstall them. I don't know
exactly what happens in there, but something does.
