Off Boise, Idaho
From La Grande to Boise there is nothing!
It was going to be one shot on highway 84, until…
WWWobble, AKA as Bobby, suggested, “Alberto, try visiting the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center In Baker City. Not far from La Grande, where you are”.
Well, Bob is an intelectual and favors things like museums. I am a motorcycle rider… that’s it. But, I proposed it to John and Laura.
With little anticipation, other than some stupid building with paintings, I went open minded.
We took highway 84, and 45 miles south there were the signs directing us to the museum. 5 miles East.
Well!! Little did I imagine. The Museum covers the how and why of the Oregon Trail. INTERPRETIVE Museum is just that, giving you a visual of what it was like to cross America in the mid 1800s. The people, the wagons, the livestock that probably you will consume as you move west. Not least the hazards. Catching the indomitable spirit of pioneering. If ever you are near Baker City, Oregon, this is a must. Few people know that it is a Federally Funded facility, akin to a National Park… yes, your Senior Pass applies here.
We started at 57° F. Kiss that refreshing temperature goodbye. It is currently 82° and heading higher.
We have been warned, as we head south the temperature will head north.
We arrived to John’s friends Gary and Jennifer. Talented artistic people that retired from the Bay Area to here.
Here? Yes, to the north east of Boise, Idaho. Correct, this is nowhere! Why would anyone move here? I’m sure they know why and I could care less. Such remoteness is not for me.
Currently 86° and rising.
