Too early to start on the next service, but I’m going to tear into the bike for other reasons. The gory details are appropriately titled camshaft issues. My new nickname is cam killer.

Haven’t ridden the R69S much, recently. No particular reason. It has been 200 miles since the bike was put back together. That’s long enough to require a cylinder head retorque and valve adjust. Valves (after the retorque) were a bit tight. No pictures. Bike is running well.
Except: I’ve got this love/hate thing going on with the reuseable silicone valve cover gaskets. I love that they last forever. I hate that it is too easy to put them on incorrectly. 25 miles down the road I discovered my right boot covered in oil. Seems I had a slight fold in the gasket that I didn’t catch when putting the valve cover on the bike. The gasket deformed just enough to leave an outlet for the oil splashing around the valve train. It doesn’t need much of a gap to spit oil on your boot and the entire right side of the bike. You’d think I’d learn to check for leaks right away.

Sale pending. This will be the penultimate entry to the maintenance pages. I’ll add one more entry after the sale is final and I deliver the bike to the new owner.

Add in a few miles to the above for the ride into San Francisco to deliver the bike to the new owner. He drove me home to pick up parts and books and fill out the paperwork. This is the last entry for my R69S pages. The pages will stay up on the off chance they are useful to other owners.
