Images
Photo Library
Images are loaded into GeoTag using the File -> Open, ⌘O. Individual image files, groups of files, or entire folders may be opened. If a folder is opened all files within the folder and sub-folders are added to the table of images to process.
Another method of loading images is to select images or folders from the finder and drag them onto the GeoTag table. Or you may click on the photo icon in the toolbar and open the Photos picker to select images from your Photos Library.
Loaded images
When images are loaded the GeoTag window looks something like this image (click for full size).
Non-image files contained in opened folders are displayed in a grey font. These files are otherwise ignored by GeoTag. Ignored files may include jpeg files that are part of a raw/jpeg pair depending upon GeoTag Settings. Image files that are associated with an XMP sidecar file are indicated by an asterisk (*) following the image name. Location updates for such images will always be written to the XMP file. There is an option to hide ignored files in the View menu.
The order that images are displayed in the table can be adjusted. Clicking on the column headers in the table will sort by that column. Clicking the same column a subsequent time will invert the direction of the sort.
Track logs
Track log notification
Track logs can be loaded into the program separately or with images.
File -> Open, ⌘O, and dragging all work. GeoTag notifies you when a track log
is processed. The notificaiton may include status of track logs that GeoTag
could not process.
Image selection
Images are selected in the usual manner: click, click and drag, click then shift click, or command click to add/remove from the selection. Right clicking on an image will bring up a context menu. The images context menu actions are performed on vary depending upon the selection state of the image
- Right clicking on a selected image will apply the action to all selected images
- Right clicking on an unselected image will make that image the selection and then apply the action.
- Right clicking on no image in the table applies the action to all selected images.
The displayed thumbnail is that of the “most selected” image. When multiple images are selected the “most selected” image is indicated by a yellow file name in a thicker font. If the image has a location a red pin will be placed on the map. If multiple images are selected only the “most selected” will get a red pin. There is a user option to show a pin for other selected images in the View menu. Those pins contain a yellow center.
Image Search
The search field in the right side of the toolbar can be used to limit the images shown in the table to those matching the search string. Search is by image name and is “fuzzy”. All image names containing the characters in the search field in the order given will match. Example: searching for “jpg” will not only match names ending in jpg but also an image named John-and-Paul-go-home. John-and-Paul-go-home contain j, p, and g in order. Case is ignored.
