Time Zones
As noted several times it is important that the time zone of image timestamps is set before matching locations to track logs or saving updates when the Update GPS Time/Date is set. If image time zones matches the current time zone as used by your computer nothing need be done. Otherwise the correct time zone must be selected.
Time Zone Selection
The Time Zone selection window is opened using Edit -> Specify Time Zone…
The current time zone is shown along with a picker that lets you select the desired time zone. The current time zone is that of your computer unless previously changed in GeoTag. GeoTag does not remember changes. Every time the program is launched current is set to the system time zone.
The Change button must be activated to change the time zone used to match track logs and set the GPS Date/Time. Hitting cancel or otherwise closing the window will keep the current time zone active.
Timestamps
At times your camera may be set to the wrong time. Perhaps daylight savings has changed since last set. Or the clock in the camera may have drifted a few minutes one way or another. GeoTag lets you correct these issues by changing the image timestamps.
GeoTag 5.1
Timestamp
Double clicking on the Timestamp field of an image will open a popover containing a date/time picker set to the image timestamp. If there is no image time the picker will be set to the current date and time. Adjust the value as desired and activate the Change button to apply the change.
When double clicking on one image of a selection the date and time of every selected image will be adjusted by the difference in time between the original timestamp and the entered value. If no image was selected or if the edited timestamp was not part of the selection only that value will change.
GeoTag 5.2 and later
Timestamp editing is done using the inspector. The Inspector tab is opened using ⌘I, clicking on the icon on the right of the toolbar, or right clicking on an image and selecting “Edit…”.
