May 30 - June 2, 2000
This is not only short week following labor day, but probably the last week of the original project. There are some additional things to be done, though.
- rail for the steps to the BBQ area
- rail for pool access
- rail for spa access
- some kind of sculpture for the front
- install fountain in side yard
a few new plants
irrigation wire clean-up
oiled screen fence by shed
Bougainvillea
weeping cherry
The last plants (I think) are in the ground. The irrigation system is ready and the zones have been mapped (but I don’t have the map yet). I think a bunch of little stuff is all that is left.

There are a dozen or so little things that need to be addressed, but for all practical purposes they are done. I’ve got another two gallons of bleaching oil on order to finish oiling the pool equipment enclosure as well as one new section of fence and the pool cover enclosure. Some new garden furniture is also on order. I’ll add final, hi-res pictures once the structures have been oiled.

The crew was only here for half-a-day Thursday. We were gone most of Friday, but noticed that a few more of the little things had been done. Of the original contract the only outstanding items are:
- Hot tub cover anchors
- Fix some broken/loose pathway stones
- Add rain downspout to section of new roof
- patch some cavities in the mortar under the pool coping
- Apply mastic to the joint between pool decking and coping
Many of those tasks are awaiting a sub-contractor or special parts.
Mitsuko and I have been shopping for pool/garden furniture and have a bunch of stuff on order to be delivered in the coming weeks. We also got some things for Mitsuko’s vegetable garden. I’m waiting for the oil I ordered to arrive for the un-oiled fence sections and the pool cover box. There’s some painting to be done once the down spout is added, too.
