Before taking the bike out on a ride I want to adjust the clutch. The book calls for 10-15 mm of free play measured at the ball end of the lever. I had none.
No clutch free play
Got bike this way
The free play adjustments at the lever were not going to help. They were adjusted to give maximum slack, yet I had none. I decided to reposition the lever on the engine case by one spline to give me some more slack.
Marked
Moved
Clutch cable adjusted
I marked the location of the lever on the splined shaft before repositioning. The first picture was taken after removing the retaining screw. With the screw in place the mark is between the lever gap. The second picture shows the lever moved one spline counter clockwise. That gave me lots of slack. I used the cable adjustments by the hand lever to get the desired 10-15 mm at the ball end of the lever. The clutch feels much better in use.

Mirrors have to go
Those mirrors have to go. The right mirror gives me a choice of looking at my shoulder or the shoulder of the road. Replacments are on order and should be here next week. Along with new mirrors I’ve ordered lowered foot pegs and a bash plate. Now I’ve got to think about a saddle that fits my butt.
