This is the KTM 790 Adventure Repair/Service Manual. It comes on a DVD and contains an application in both Windows and Mac formats to access the data. You can print the contents to a PDF. However, the PDF is not searchable. updated: I found instructions on advrider.com telling how to create a searchable PDF using a newer version (v9.12.0) of Flux Player. See this post
The DVD has some kind of copy protection. The program will not let you access the data if copied to a hard disk. This is a minor pain for those who run systems that do not have a built in DVD reader and don’t need one often enough to keep an outboard reader connected on a regular basis.
There is one other issue for those running the current version of macOS – Version 10.15 Catalina: Start.app is a 32-bit app and will not run. Here is the workaround to bypass Start.app.
- Open the folder representing the DVD – it’s called
PSLABEL
- Open the folder named
zdata
- Open the folder named
Content
- Double click on the file that ends in
.fluxpackage
. The file on my DVD is named
0001-F453-92C9-0FC6.fluxpackage
- macOS will ask you to choose the application. Click on the “Choose Application…” button.
- in the “choose an application” window navigate to
PSLABEL/zdata/bin/
and selectFluxPlayer.app
- click the open button
The repair manual app will start. Select your language and bike (standard or R).
I haven’t tried this, yet, but I suspect that if you copy FluxPlayer.app
to your Applications folder you’ll be able to skip the “choose an application” steps.
