I’m on record as stating that crash bars are a waste of money as they exist to protect valve covers that are cheaper to replace than the crash bars that are supposed to protect them. I also felt the BMW plastic protectors are only to protect the valve covers from minor scratches due to parking lot tip-overs, but had some on my bike anyway.
OK, I was an idiot to say the above. Not just wrong, but doubly wrong. Crash bars may protect more than valve covers and the plastic protectors barely protect the valve covers from parking lot tip-overs. After helping a friend with his first GS valve adjustment I discovered the that H&B bars not only looked functional, but didn’t get in the way when doing simple maintenance. I went home and ordered a set in silver from Eurotech (alas, no longer in business).
Box from Eurotech
Lots of popcorn
Parts, too
Four days later, one of them a Sunday and another a Holiday, UPS delivered a box from Eurotech. The box was full of lots of popcorn plus three bags containing the left side, right side, and center piece with mounting hardware and instructions in German. The instructions did have a diagram point out where everything went and gave the sizes of the various screws, washers, and spacers. Pictures and numbers are the same in German and English… I’ll get by.
