July 2021
This is my first time using Tmax 400 developed in Rodinal 1+100 for 60 minutes with inversions at start and the 30 minute mark. It is also the first time “scanning” the images by shooting the negatives with my Canon 7D. The combination of my 24-70 lens set at about 58 mm with a 20 mm extension tube fills the viewfinder of my 7D. I’m using the EFH to hold the negatives.
I’ve gone through the “scanning” process 3 times. First I tried using a 50mm prime. Then I switched lenses, but used manual focus on camera looking though a LCD magnifies. The third time which gave me the best results was using the Canon EOS utility to control the camera from my computer. It was also the fastest.
I’n not enamored with the results. The images have too much grain for my taste. Maybe next time I’ll try a 200 ISO. The editing isn’t the best, either. I’ll probably re-edit these a few more times to learn how to get the most out of the negatives.
None of these images are good. A few are what-was-I-thinking bad. Most are fuzzy/blurry in the corners, especially on the left (landscape orientation). Camera, or am I getting the edge of a finger into the frame?
