After the storm
The hole in the street and under the sidewalk looked like the old swimming hole after the rain storm that hit the bay area Tuesday. A sump pump wouldn’t have helped much as our power was out for just under 12 hours during the height of the storm.
Street repaving has been put off a week due to the storm. That gives the plumbers plenty of time to get the hole filled. The county inspector was here much of the time, guiding the crew to fill to his exacting standards. I didn’t hear any complaints.
The layer of old asphalt that the paving crew couldn’t get ground up to due to the hole in the streat was removed this morning while waiting for the inspector. The holes in the back yard were filled while waiting for a load of aggregate.
Asphalt removed
Do it this way
Filled hole in back yard
Concrete and stone work needed
3/4 gravel base
Tamp
More tamp
Next layer
Another day done
The carpet folks were here to measure for the new carpet, too. Assuming the cost is within reason the new carpet will be installed after the plumbing is done, including the re-do of the foundation patch in the family room.
