A few weeks ago at the Quail Lodge Motorcycle Gathering my wide angle zoom (Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM) was taking forever to focus and when I finally got the focus lock confirmation beep the odds were greather than 50% that the focus was wrong. I used manual focus with that lens the rest of the day.
When I got home I packed up the lens and sent it off to Canon for repair. It came back today. The repair order noted that the focus mechanism was bad and had been replaced. OK. I put the lens on the body to check it out.

Much better. The focus is much faster than I remember. I suspect the focus mechanism had been failing for quite a while and it wasn’t until a few weeks ago that it got bad enough to force me to do something about it.
