Winter storms tried to blow down part of our fence. Three posts broke at ground level and needed to be replaced. The wood that made up the sections was mostly OK and could be re-used after cutting off the rotted ends.
New posts
replaced in place
The fence pros detached the section rails from the rotted out posts then removed the posts and installed new 4x4s in place. I wasn’t paying a lot of attention to their work so didn’t see the exact process used. The results look fine.
kicker removed
4x4 rails
The kicker and botton 2x4 rails of the five sections around the broken posts were removed. The 2x4 rails were replaced with 4x4 rails. They are going to last a very long time.
close up
This shot is a close up of the new bottom rail and kicker before the addition of the 1x1 supports for the fence slats. It took the two man crew about 7 hours including lunch and breaks to get the entire job done. We’re happy with the results. Now to remove all the ivy on the back side of the fence before it can tear the fence down.
